Apple’s EarPods USB-C, Are They Worth It?— A Review

My recently acquired iPhone 15 Pro led me to buy the EarPods USB-C. For owners of the latest phones, it’s evident that older headsets are incompatible due to the new ports. You can either opt for new headsets or headphones, or acquire an adapter cable to use with your existing ones. However, it’s worth noting that if your device supports Bluetooth, there’s no issue at all. This post is intended for those considering purchasing the EarPods with USB-C.

Quality

Priced at 2780円, it’s quite affordable, but naturally, with affordability comes compromises in quality. There’s nothing exceptional about it, you can listen to songs without any notable bass or depth. It’s quite basic, and even at a volume above the middle level, it still feels relatively low.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  1. Compatibility: Works seamlessly with devices featuring USB-C ports, such as the latest iPhones and Android smartphones.
  2. Convenience: Eliminates the need for dongles or adapters, providing a direct connection to compatible devices.
  3. Design: Compact and lightweight, making them easy to carry around and use on the go.
  4. Brand Reliability: Manufactured by Apple, ensuring a certain level of quality and compatibility with their products.

Cons:

  1. Sound Quality: Lacks depth and bass, providing a relatively basic audio experience compared to higher-end headphones.
  2. Price: While affordable for some, may be considered expensive for the level of sound quality offered.
  3. Limited Compatibility: Not suitable for devices without USB-C ports, requiring additional adapters for older devices or those with different port types.

Personally, I prefer these for convenience since they don’t require charging. However, I might consider purchasing wireless headphones in the future for the added convenience and enhanced bass experience.

What kind of music genre do you mostly listen to?
I would like to make a few headphone suggestions based your music tastes.

Ok, I think the Apple Earpods go for around $19, so I am going try to keep it at the same price point but with better sound quality. To start with I suggest you get Apple’s USB-C to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter which costs $9. Sometimes you can find them for less because people don’t tend to use them at all. But this adapter is good value for the money. You can get this USB-C to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter from different brands for less money on Amazon. However, I don’t know whether these will work 100% with your newer iPhone model.
Before I make some headphones suggestions, I should point out that if you already own better sounding headphones, using them with the suggested Apple’s USB-C to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter might already be satisfactory for your needs.
Ok, gotta go now but I promise to come back with some headphone suggestions.

I’m kinda satisfied with what I have now. Thanks for your suggestions. I’m eyeing the Marshall headphones though.:)
