Discover Nodake Lake Park In Nagasaki

The sole purpose of constructing Nodake Lake Park was to prevent water disruption during droughts. Clearly, this is a man-made lake situated in the mountains of Omura, built during the Edo period. Its man-made nature makes me ponder the significant investment, the skilled individuals, and the brilliant minds that contributed to its successful creation.

What to see in Nodake Lake Park

Playground

This is just one of the fantastic activities your child can enjoy at the park. They’ve designed this zip line with kids in mind, so it’s not very high. But even though I’m not a kid, I couldn’t resist trying it out. The fun was absolutely unparalleled.

Cycling tracks

This winding path takes you on a journey through the park. During the scorching summer days, the sun’s heat can be relentless, but the welcoming shade of these trees provides much-needed relief.

Camping and Barbeque

Camping at Nodake Lake Park comes with a range of amenities, including cabins, barbecue stations, and restrooms. For detailed information about camping and rental fees, please visit the website for detailed information about the camping and rental fees.

We went there not for camping so I couldn't share to you the very detail about camping.

Bridge

A bridge connects both sides of the park, offering a picturesque view.

The Nodake Lake

The lake itself is the primary attraction, and those of us who visited were not disappointed in witnessing its magnificent beauty.

Restaurants and Vending Machines

Japan lives up to its reputation as a convenient country. No matter where you go, a vending machine is always within arm’s reach. While this park may be far from the city and less crowded, it’s still surprising to find one or two vending machines. I assume they made them available because of the outdoor activities provided. Additionally, there is a restaurant near the parking area where visitors can grab something to eat.

What else can you do?

Families we encountered at the park came well-prepared with camping gear for picnics with their kids. Some were enjoying leisurely bike rides, while a couple of women opted for a jog or a leisurely stroll along the lake’s perimeter. As for my husband and me, we chose to take a leisurely walk around the lake, occasionally pausing to capture the scenic moments with our cameras. It felt like we were getting a good workout amidst the lush green surroundings and the tranquil lake, all while thoroughly enjoying ourselves.

The highlight of our day came when we arrived at a serene corner with benches overlooking the lake. It was an ideal spot for meditation and relaxation. We settled in for a while, immersing ourselves in the soothing sounds of nature: the chirping crickets on a warm summer day, the gentle whistle of the wind, the rustling of leaves, and the calming ripple of the water. I’m not exaggerating; I’m just stating the pure and simple truth.

The long drive to the lake proved to be truly worthwhile. It unveiled yet another hidden gem that I had the pleasure of discovering. It leaves me wondering what other treasures Nagasaki holds in store. I’m eagerly anticipating more journeys to new and less-explored destinations.
