Sakura in Higashi Nagasaki Park

Hey there, folks! It’s been a week since I landed in Japan and I must say, it’s been an exciting adventure so far. I couldn’t have picked a better time to come here – it’s spring and the anticipation of a new era is in the air. In fact, tomorrow the announcement of the new era name is happening and I can hardly wait!

By the way, have you ever seen the last Sakura of the Heisei era? Well, I had the privilege of seeing it just the other day. My husband and I went to Higashi Nagasaki Park, and boy, was it a sight to behold! The pink petals showering the ground like confetti and the sweet fragrance of the cherry blossoms in the air – it was a magical experience that I’ll never forget.

My heart rejoices.

Higashi Nagasaki Park

This park is an absolute gem, nestled just a stone’s throw away from my in-law’s house! Every time we drive through Nagasaki, we can’t help but be drawn to its stunning sakura trees, bursting with vibrant flowers. Even though some of them are still waiting to bloom, the energy of the park is already palpable, beckoning visitors to come and explore its wonders. It’s the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse yourself in nature’s beauty!

Cherry Blossoms yet to bloom
Almost ready

Yesterday, my husband and I went on a date after grocery shopping. We spent the afternoon together as a couple. The park near our house is conveniently located just a walk away. It’s a beautiful park with a panoramic view of the sea. What else could we ask for?

Scenes at the park

As we arrived at the park, we were greeted by a tranquil scene. A group of elderly people were leisurely seated on the wooden benches, enjoying the cool breeze and the stunning view of the sakura trees in front of them. Their faces were filled with contentment, and we could see them chatting and laughing with each other.

Moving ahead, we noticed some young kids running around and playing with their parents. They were all smiles, filled with joy and energy. We could hear their laughter and happy cries, making the atmosphere even more lively and fun-filled.

The park was bustling with life throughout the day, with people of all ages taking part in different activities. Some were having a picnic, while others were jogging or cycling on the tracks. Overall, the park was a happy place where people came together to spend quality time with their loved ones and enjoy the beauty of nature.

This Sakura tree is the star.

Looking at the sakura in Higashi Nagasaki park fills me with a sense of assurance and positivity that I never tire of.

Cherry blossoms

This place undoubtedly brings peace of mind to everyone. If you’re into meditation, the park is precisely what you need. Birds glide above the blue sky, and dogs perform tricks on the grass. The breeze gently caresses your skin, and the trees speak a language only you can understand. It’s a true paradise, and the best part is that there’s no admission fee. If you’re planning to visit Nagasaki for cherry blossom viewing, make sure to add this park to your list.

We returned home before sunset after our first cherry blossom viewing together.
